What it is
Next.js is an open-source framework built on React and maintained by Vercel. It builds the whole web application, pages and server code together, and decides for each page whether it is rendered in advance, on the server or in the browser.

Why it's a safe bet
Rendering chosen per page
Static generation (SSG) for pages that rarely change, server rendering (SSR) for live data, both in one project. Pages arrive ready to read, which search engines and slow connections both reward.
Fast by default
Images, fonts and scripts are optimised automatically, and each page only loads the code it needs.
One codebase, front and back
Server components and API routes live beside the pages, so there is one project to deploy and maintain instead of two.
